Role of network security device PAN, WAN, LAN, and WLAN, NMS | Role of network security device PAN with Example, Role of network security device WAN with Example ,Role of network security device LAN with Example, and Role of network security device WLAN with Example, Role of network security device NMS with Example also,  Differentiate the network devices like Switches, Routers, HUB, and Wireless LAN Controller

Role of network security devices:

Network security device:

Protecting our system all devices that are part of our network either its local or wide area network, this is the essential part to secure it from unauthorized access, from attacks and from the hackers as well.

For this purpose there is huge number of tools devices use to secure network. Protecting from spam filters and firewalls as well.

Roles why we need to protect:

·         If we not control the access of authorized and unauthorized user the number of user increase, the number of user access to our network increase which cause the traffic issue on our network.

·         It may be harm to our network data.

·         It requires increasing the speed because if we secure it form un-authorized user the network will be access by the authorized user only. Access to the data will be very easy.

·         There is less chance of hacking of data.

·         There will be very little chance of data lost, because we only allow authorized user.

·         When only fair user accesses it who allow taking data from it there will be no chance of server down.

Network communication devices:

PAN:

Pan stands for personal area network, which we use in our home or with very few numbers of devices, where the number of user range are to low.

Example:

Bluetooth consider as PAN because in this network the max range is too low where we share data and communicate each other.

WAN:

Wan stands for wide area network, in wide area we can communicate in cites or even overall the world either we are in one country or outside the boundaries. We use wide whenever it needed to communicates all over the world.

Example:

Intent is consider as wide area network because its cover all over the world people in same or different countries can be communicate via wide area network which is internet.

LAN:

LAN stands for local area network, which is use in short range, whenever we need to connect to campuses of same area together we usually use local area network.

Example:

University of okara doms campus connected with main department, the network created between consider as local area.

WLAN:

Stands for wireless local area network, this type of network created for communication in local area via wireless communication devices instead of Ethernet connectivity. This wireless connectivity will be in limited range

Example:

We create a WALN network in PGC campus one with the campus like boys and girl’s building via wireless network to share information or connect with it via wireless network.

NMS:

It’s network management software, whenever we built network either its local wide, we always require tools and software for its maintence, this is also use for it to establish maintain and manage the network which we created.

Example:

We created PGC network and we want to check the bandwidth, auto routing etc., determine the traffic incoming outgoing packets we use it.

Differentiate the network devices like Switches, Routers, HUB, and Wireless LAN Controller

       Network devices:

There are number of network devices we use according to the requirements of the network, all having different techniques and different usage and way of working is different.

Switches:

Switches are used in networks whenever it needs to send the data to the specific computer or a specific device to specific device in networks. Data will be sending to the particular device to which we want to share data. It work via MAC address, there is table created of Mac address and the communication will be via Mac address.

Example:

Areeha want to send data to sughra only the data will be share from Areeha to sughra’s computer only with in a netwrok.

Routers:

A router is also a communication device that will work in a network via packets. This time of communication between different devices in a netwrok via IP address and port to port. There will be ip address of sender and receiver and the specific port for communication.

Example:

If Areeha want to send email to sughra only there will be ip address of Areeha and the port number and data, on the other hand there will be ip address of sughra’s computer and the port number the mail will be send to the sughra’ s mail only.

HUB:

HUB is a network device which we usually use in local area network where we send data from on pc to all pc connected in a network. This will consider as broadcast or one to many type of communication.

Example:

In a lab we usually install software to the server and whenever we want to install the MS-OFFCIE to all system connected to the netwrok we will share to all PC via main server.

Wireless LAN Controller:

It’s a very small type of device which we use for local and limited communication, like it’s a light weight access point for communication

 Example:

Limited mobile devices and hotspot etc
